ABOUT
The Hideaway is a delightful one-bedroom property situated in the village of Chirnside in the Scottish Borders. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a peaceful retreat. Edinburgh and Newcastle are an hour away by car or train, the coast is a 15 minute drive, and there are several quaint market towns in the area to visit. The property is only a few minutes walk from the village supermarket and other local amenities.
THE SPACE:
The Hideaway consists of a small upstairs bedroom with french windows, a well equipped open plan kitchen/diner/living room, and a modern bathroom. The property has been recently refurbished. It is heated via an eco-friendly wood pellet heating system and solar water panel topped up when necessary by the wood pellets. The Hideaway has an all-glass wood burning stove for guests to enjoy.
There is an outdoor patio with a table chairs and sun umbrella for guests to enjoy.
The Hideaway front gate is 20 metres (approximately 20 second walk) along a well lit public footpath adjacent to the Main Street, where free public parking is available. Free off road parking is also available a few minutes walk from The Hideaway at the football pitch and opposite the chip shop.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Parking is free throughout the village, there is on-street parking in the Main Street from where the public footpath runs to the entrance gate of the Hideaway. There is also free off street parking by the football pitch and also opposite the chip shop.
Please note that the staircase to the bedroom is rather narrow. Do not book this property if you have limited mobility.
The wifi network is shared within the building. Wifi is only available in the kitchen/diner. Guests report the Phone coverage is good.
The wood burning stove is provided with a basket of logs and kindling as shown. Thereafter guests can obtain additional logs from local outlets or purchased from the owners. It is a condition of use that only kiln-dried hard wood logs and kindling with the ‘Ready to Burn’ accreditation mark on the bag can be used.
The heating is from an eco-friendly off site biomass system, we aim to create a comfortable temperature for all guests. Guests do not have any direct control over the heating, please do not attempt to adjust the thermostatic radiator valves. If temperature requires adjusting please contact us, we will be happy to make any change needed.
Guests are welcome to bring one well behaved pet dog, no other species may be brought. It is a condition of booking that guests take their pet off site for all toileting purposes, there is a park 1 minute walk from the property.
